This complex, subtle and full-bodied cabernet sauvignon has great elegance and a long finish. Dark fruit and smoke notes on this red wine, with lots of layers and great cellar potential. Superb craftsmanship. Highly recommended.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hearty meat dishes, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Darlene Myers - CAPS Student rated this wine as 97/100 with the following review:

I think this is probably the highest rating I have ever given a wine. I had the opportunity to taste this wine at a tasting, and had to ask for seconds... it was that good. Full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from one of Napa Valley's great vineyards, this Reserve 2010 is dark, with expressive bold fruits and hints of smoke. I took a few minutes to just enjoy all the luscious aromas before enjoying the wine. Beautifully structured with soft tannins and a lingering finish, this is the definition of a treat wine. Goes with anything and everyone.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

Winemaker Laurie Hook's expertise is magnificently showcased in this aromatic Cab Sauv. A wine to savour, with its subdued aroma profile and complex flavours of blueberry, black cherry, cassis, baking spice and chocolate. Full-bodied, velvety smooth mouthfeel, with a long spicy fruit finish. This would make a great gift for someone special, maybe for Father's Day or graduation.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Beringer’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has a long history of putting smiles on peoples faces all over the world. Since its first vintage it’s won countless international awards including first place at the Judgement of Sauternes where it stole the show ahead of 40 first growth Bordeaux and California cult-Cabernets. Intense deep colour, the nose shows sweet blueberry, dark berries, chocolate, charcoal, scorched earth, and the palate is incredibly smooth and well balanced! Pure harmony! Wow! Winemaker Laurie Hook selects the finest lots from their reserve vineyards in Napa and the proof is in the bottle that those vineyards when coupled with genius winemaking talent are creating some of the finest wine in the world, year after year. Enjoy now or cellar for decades and reap the rewards of an aged cult-Cabernet. Tasted April 2015. 94 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

The Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2010 Vintage was tasted in early 2015. After approximately 18 months in 70% hand selected, custom-toasted new French oak barrels (Nevers Oak), the blend was bottle-aged for a year prior to release. Winemaker Laurie Hook has crafted a gift to winelovers by bottling the unique expression of Napa Valley Terroir from the St Helena Home Vineyard as well as the highest elevations from Beringer's Napa Valley mountain vineyards. This blend features fruit from the Beringer brother's original estate vineyard. Diverse Napa Terroir is channeled into this wine from smaller stressed vines, volcanic soil, small berries and medium to long hang times. This wine shows ruby red, full-bodied, elegant, complex, and with concentrated flavours of blackberry, dark chocolate, anise, with a hint of black sage. Once opened, this wine was tasted at half hour intervals and seemingly invites the taster on a journey as it evolves in the glass. Showed well-belanced tannins, acidity, fruit, at only 5 years in, this wine will integrate further with age. Recommend enjoying at yearly intervals (2015-2035). Paired well with a warm Angus beef tenderloin steak-frites.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Beautiful, rich, complex, and overall very enjoyable. This is the flagship wine of the vintner, beautifully crafted, both for drinking now and also cellaring for years to come. Wine spends 18 months in custom selected French oak barrels to develop these luscious flavours. Aromas are highly integrated, and include dark ripe berries, currants, smoke, cedar and earthy notes. There are also herbaceous hints and almost a licorice or anise flavour. This is a special wine that could be decanted and enjoyed with a special meal, or held and enjoyed for years to come. This is a wine to both enjoy and savour.
