This complex, subtle and full-bodied cabernet sauvignon has great elegance and a long finish. Dark fruit and smoke notes on this red wine, with lots of layers and great cellar potential. Superb craftsmanship. Highly recommended. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this benchmark wine are grown in one of Napa Valley's greatest vineyards. Winemaker Laurie Hook's superb craftsmanship is evident. The wine is aged for about 18 months in custom-toasted new French oak barrels. Pair with rare filet mignon.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: rib roast, roast chicken sirloin tip steak with three pepper sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby, with layers of sweet dark fruit, beets, baking spices, dark chocolate, with a long velvety smooth plum and baking spice finish. Delicious now and enjoy over the next 20 years. Tasted November 2016. 94 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Simon Chen rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Tasted @ California Wine Tour in Toronto 2017 - This one is smooth, silky, rich, and warm that coats your entire mouth and finish with smooth long tannin. Although young, it's already a well integrated wine. I have few bottles in my cellar, looking forward to see how it evolves over the next 10 years.
From California's well-known wine producers, Beringer Estates, Private Reserve (2012) is a well-built and structured Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine grapes for the 2012 vintage came from the Steinhauer vineyard (30%) with 17% from Bancroft Ranch on Howell Mountain and 17% from the St. Helena Home vineyard, the original vineyard purchased by Jacob and Frederick Beringer purchased in 1875. - Community Wine Reviews
