Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

What an incredible wine for the price! The colour is a deep ruby red with a hint of garnet, the nose shows ripe dark fruit, black cherry, plum, fig, baking spices, mocha, bacon, and cedar - needless to say this is an incredibly complex wine. Dark cherry, plum, sweet spice, and pepper on the long finish. Smooth with modest tannins that create terrific texture ideally suited for enjoyment with rich Spanish meals. The 2010 Reserva Rioja spent 20 months in new American oak before resting for 24 months in bottle where all its components fell beutifully into place prior to its release. This would be a great hosting gift to bring to a dinner party or enjoy at home with shellfish paella, roasted leg of lamb, wild mushroom risotto, lamb tagine, grilled chorizo, barbecued beef brisket or ratatouille. Tasted October 2015 and November 2016. 92+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A fantastic Rioja reserva at a fantastic price. This wine offers exceptional value and an elegant taste of old world Spanish red. Well balanced, well integrated, complex and elegant. Ripe fig, green olive brine, red berry, savoury herb, aged leather. Each glass calls the next. Fantastic pairing with Spanish tapas, olive tapenade, Mediterranean hors d'œuvres, sun dried tomato and prosciutto pizza. Tasted Nov 2016 - @jonsteeves rated 92/100 - bespoketastings.ca
Trevor Sabourin - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is a beautifully integrated Rioja. There is plenty of oak influence, but the intense dark cherry and plum fruit stand up to it. It is full and rich, and while the tannins are medium-high, they are soft and seamless. The aromas and flavours also show tons of dark chocolate and coconut, clove, potpourri, cedar, licorice, smoke, and some sweet black olive. The finish is long, intense, and chocolatey. Tasted Nov. 2016
Brad rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A dark purply red in color with big leather, tar and mint on the nose. This wine had alot of cherry fruit flavor with lots of tanin. Wait a year to drink this wine should age nicely
This Spanish red wine is situated about 300 miles south of Bordeaux. The Baron de Ley estate even looks like a French Château. This wine is matured in both American and French oak barrels. Fine, polished tannins. - Community Wine Reviews
