Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region, it’s racy, refreshing and energetic with notes of gooseberry, wet stone, elderflower, lemongrass and lime, and nice minerality. An astrolabe is not only an antique navigational instrument, but also the name of a French naval vessel – L’Astrolabe – which explored the Marlborough coast of New Zealand in 1827. The winemaker chose that name as a symbol of exploration and discovery. It’s lovely on its own or served with mixed passed hors d’oeuvres, but also pairs beautifully with green salads and goat cheese dishes.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
