Full-bodied, lusciously rich and deep with a terrific long finish. Aromas of fleshy sweet dark fruit, a hint of pepper and savoury goodness. Mouth-watering and delicious. terrific with grilled pork shops, beef or lamb with rosemary. The Grenache in the blend gives this wine an extra richness, while the Mataro lends rustic tannins and the Shiraz, fleshy fruit. Gérard Bertrand Grand Terroir La Clape Syrah Carignan Mourvèdre 2014, Coteaux De Languedoc La Clape, South Of France A.P., France: Very savoury and juicy with dried herbs on the nose and palate. The grapes for this French red wine blend are planted closer to the Mediterranean sea and therefore there are more spice accents in the finished wine along with red fruits, lavender and pepper. The vines are planted at an altitude of 200 metres above sea level, which preserves their freshness with cool nights. The soils consist of limestone plateau that's thousands of years old. The finish has moorland accents. Pair with rosemary lamb. Although the Languedoc is the world's largest wine region with 235,000 acres, it is not one homogenous mass or style wine-wise. There are actually 5 sub-climates and more than 50 different grapes used in varying blends. Compare that to the 5 grapes used in Bordeaux. Tommasi Graticcio Appassionato 2016, Veneto, Italy: From world-known and respected wine producer, Tommassi, Graticcio Appassionato is created in a similar fashion to Veneto's great Amarone wines. "Graticcio" is the term for the traditional racks used for air-drying grapes after the harvest and concentrating the grapes' robust flavours prior to the actual winemaking. Look for dried, dark cherry fruit, fig, raisin and toasty flavours. This full-bodied red finishes long with more dried fruit and nutty flavours. Vibrant acidity for food. La Pieve Barolo 2009, D.O.C.G., Piedmont, Italy: This full-bodied red wine offers enticing aromas of dark fruit, tar, toasty and spice. Barolo wines are rarely priced this affordably, so give this this Piedmont, Nebbiolo-based grape wine a try. The tannins are firm and there will be plenty of fruit here to bring balance.
