Sweet chocolate flavours on the palate from generous oak aging. Aromas of coffee and espresso on the nose, with black fruit and smoke on the palate of this robust Italian red. Smooth and mouth-filling with black fruit and smoke on a long finish. Decant 2 hours and enjoy with meat lovers' pizza.

Food pairings: pizza with meat, pork tenderloin, rare beef steaks.

Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The Allegrini family has been making wines in Italy since the 16th century. This one is bursting with delicious red fruit – from strawberries to red cherries – with the richness of mocha, chocolate, and vanilla. It’s a full-bodied wine with rather low acidity, and medium- to low- tannins. Round mouthfeel, fruity, simple, and pleasant, it pairs well with roasted Cornish hen and pasta dishes.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted July 14, 2018. Colour dark dense red. Legs medium. Aromas and flavours of, cedar, chocolate covered raisins, black currant, blackberry, blueberry. Taste dry, medium body, dark plum fruit, mouthwatering, soft tannin, chocolate, balanced flavour. Finish medium. We had a large Canadian Pizza from Davenport Pizza and the pairing was great. The mozzarella cheese and bacon pepperoni with wine made the pizza taste better. This wine cost more than the pizza but for a special night was worth it.
Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre (2014) is a robust Italian traditional red wine blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Sangiovese grapes; the wine is rich, spicy and concentrated red berry fruit and ripe black fruit, smoke and spice on the palate. Drink now or hold in cellar for three years. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
