Pitch black in flavour and hue: this is a brooding, blockbuster, don't mess with me wine. Holy smoke. Black currant, black, charred plum and roasted blackberry. This wine has walked through the fires of hell and lived to tell the tale. Pair with grilled meats. It's the only thing this wine knows.

Malbec food pairings: pork roast with cranberry and cherry stuffing, pork roasted vegetables and cider stew, pork loin with prunes and sherry.

Reviews and Ratings

Tania Thomas - CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

At this price point this Argentinian Malbec is a real steal. Crafted with 100% Malbec grapes sourced from a high altitude single vineyard at San Pablo Estate in Mendoza’s Uco Valley. Elegant and refined, full bodied and smooth. Intense aromas and flavours of ripe black cherries, blackberries and plums with subtle floral notes. Chewy tannins, starting to soften. Closes in a lingering vanilla finish. Great wine for aging, if only you could wait! A given as a pairing with grilled steak. Tasted August 2017. Tania Thomas – www.runawaygrape.com
This Malbec from Mendoza has a dark heart. Fincas Patagonicas (2014) is so dark red in the glass it looks black. Solid character, structure with blackberry smoke and black pepper. Wow. Malbec wine grapes for this wine came from the Valle de Uco. Decant for two hours to drink now or hold in cellar for three years. - Community Wine Reviews
