Torbreck Run Rig 2004, Barossa Valley, Australia: This icon wine is a blend of 96.5% Shiraz and 3.5% Viognier and has been aged for 30 months in French oak. The wine is massive, loaded with black fruit, pencil, purple plum, dried herbs and coffee. Terrific layers of flavor and depth. Drink: 2009-2030. 997874 15.50% XD 750 mL  $274.95 Score: 97/100. Wakefield Shiraz 2010, Clare Valley, South Australia, Australia: Blackberry liqueur richness with a hint of mint. Full-bodied and ultra-smooth with excellent replays of dark fruit flavours across the palate. This is an incredible wine for the price. The grapes for this wine come from vines that were planted in 1969, and that concentration shows in the wine. Some spice and vanilla oak on a long finish. Drink: 2012-2015. 943787 14.50% XD 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 92/100. January 4, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Enchanting Feta Cheese Wine Full Review
Mitolo G.A.M. Shiraz 2010, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: This is a powerhouse of a wine, wow! Seductively rich, black cherry liqueur runs through its black heart. Full-bodied, velvet-smooth and hedonistically satisfying. Shiraz comes from the Chinese Block vineyard which is located in the Willunga district at the southern end of McLaren Vale. Biting acidity that isn't unpleasant just a surprise. Result > needs food like steak. Pair with brontosaurus burgers and King Henry VIII-style feasts (you may not need a fork and knife for the food, but you will--almost-- for this concentrated, chewy wine). Highly recommended. Drink: 2012-2017. 596031 14.50% D 750 mL  $49.95 Score: 93/100. June 7, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Complete Cheese Pizza Wine Full Review
Peter Lehmann Wines Layers Red Shiraz Tempranillo Mourvèdre Grenache 2011, Barossa, South Australia, Australia: A robust expression of Barossa red wine in all its glory from Peter Lehmann Wines and the Hess Family. Nice price, too. This full-bodied wonder offers toasty oak with generous fleshy blackberries, currants and plums aromas. Smooth and juicy. Previous vintages of this wine have won a Blue-Gold Medal at the Sydney International Wine Competition, which is judged with food. No wonder: it would make a great companion to hearty meat dishes. Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, South Australia, Australia: A hallway breeze of minty cool rushes out of the glass, then you open the door to fleshy black fruit on the palate and a lovely long finish. Full-bodied, smooth. This is a flagship wine for Australia, from a master producer. Great complexity, balance, structure and depth. It will do well in the cellar, but I challenge you to wait as it's terrific now! Decant 1-2 hours. Try it tonight with rare filet mignon. Highly recommended. Le Clos Jordanne La Petite Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007, V.Q.A., Niagara Peninsula, Twenty Mile Bench, Ontario, Canada: Vintages Wine Panel: The 2007 vintage of this single-vineyard Pinot is another brilliant achievement for Ontario Wine Awards Winemaker of the Year (2009), Thomas Bachelder. A stylish Pinot that’s all about expression and finesse. Ruby red with aromatics that paint a landscape of rustic charms — field berries, freshly tilled earth, and floral notes abound. Medium-bodied, with a silky texture. Bachelder’s nod to the classic Burgundian style is a success. My note: Alluring notes of violets, bing cherries, smoky raspberries and red plums interwoven with dried tobacco leaves. This plush wine keeps on giving to end of its truffled finish. 33944 13.50% XD 750 mL  $40.00 Score: 95/100. January 23, 2010 Top Rated Red Wine. Full Review

Modus Ruffino 2009, Tuscany I.G.T., Italy: The 2010 vintage of this spectacular Italian red wine was released in the liquor store last year, and now here comes the 2009, which needed a more time given it's towering tannic structure. It too is a blockbuster and a palate pleaser, with a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot grapes. Great bones, seductive flesh. Drink: 2014-2021. 912956 14% XD 750 mL  $32.95 Score: 94/100. May 10, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Plush Pork Wine Full Review
Ruffino Modus 2012, Tuscany I.G.T., Italy: The 2012 vintage of this rich, full-bodied Italian red wine is a blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot grapes. The vines are planted primarily in the vineyards of Ruffino's estates of Poggio Casciano and Santedame, which is hilly clay rich in fossil fragments. The wine undergoes a malolactic fermentation and a post-fermentative maceration on the skins for 2 weeks to add richness and depth. It's then aged for 12 months in first, second and third use American and French 225 litre oak barrels. This Super Tuscan is worthy of your attention, from its ruby-violet gem glints in the glass to its finish as long as a Tuscan country road. It delivers an intense bouquet of black cherry, plum, graphite, dried tobacco leaves and dark spice. This robust red wine has remarkably polished tannins that yield to a supple, smooth texture. Incredible concentration and flavour at such a reasonable level of alcohol. Pair with truffle-inflected dishes and grilled meats. Drink: 2015-2021. 912956 13.50% XD 750 mL  $32.95 Score: 94/100. Stags' Leap Winery Petite Sirah 2011, Napa Valley, California, United States: A full-bodied and savoury Californian red wine, with a different flavour profile derived from the lesser-known grape Petite Sirah. Spicy exotic black fruit aromas and flavours play across the palate. Complex and tasty: here's a red wine to get you out of your Cabernet rut (if you're in one). Try it with grilled pork chops.
