Youthful fruity aromas of citrus, grapefruit, tangerine, limeleaf and baked apples are perfectly balanced with the yeasty, brown butter and smokiness that is a result from gentle and well thought out wine making techniques. This balance carries on into the palate where the wine shows as dry, high acid, med + body, moderate alcohol and a high intensity of flavours such that mimic those found on the nose, as well as popcorn, lemongrass, saffron, minerality, slight leesy character, cantaloupe, melons and cloves; with a long finish. This wine is very good; typical chardonnay grape character is very well balanced with the [not over-done, thank goodness] oak ageing and lees work done at the winery. Drinking very well right now but can hold for at least 3-4 more years. I enjoyed this wine with Thai food (garlic chicken with mushrooms, pad thai, pineapple shrimp curry & mango salad) and it was a perfect success.

Still a vibrant, dark ruby colour considering it is already five years old. Good intensity of aromas such as blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, plum, violets, smoke, tobacco, black pepper, cloves, anise and baking spices. This is a dry wine with high acid, medium body, medium+ tannin, medium+ alcohol, and flavours reminiscent of those found in the nose but also including coffee, rosehips and allspice. The finish was pleasant but didn't change a lot from my first impression. This is a very good wine, which could hold in a cellar for another 3 to 4 years or be enjoyed now (preferably with meat/hard cheese to balance the still-firm tannins). I enjoyed this wine with pork and beef ribs that were smoked and barbecued, then tossed in a sweet and spicy coffee BBQ sauce, with a side of mac and cheese (both the wine and the food benefited from eachother). *This wine was not as lively when tasted the day after being opened*

Dark ruby in colour; and a nose that expresses plums, blackberries, black cherries, tomato plant, licorice, pencil shavings, allspice, cigar smoke and violets. A dry wine with high acidity that leans towards the higher end of medium in body, alcohol, and tannins. Flavours of black cherry, plum, blackberry, allspice, licorice and truffle that lead into an earthy medium length finish. This is a good quality wine that can be enjoyed now or held for another 3-5 years based on it's healthy tannin structure. This wine tastes like a super Tuscan ought to taste: Italian at heart but benefiting from french oak and modern winemaking techniques. This wine will pair well with hearty/meaty pasta dishes that have a tomato based sauce (eg lasagna) and hard/mature Italian cheeses.

A glass full of youthful-looking ruby wine leads to an equally as youthful nose: aromas of cherry, strawberries, raspberries, candied apples, eucalyptus, wet stone minerality and rosemary. A dry wine with high acid, reaching to the higher end of low in body, alcohol and tannin, with a medium intensity of youthful flavours of red and black berries, candied apples, eucalyptus, cloves and walnuts with minerality, a raw woodiness (like that of gin), and a finish that moves the wine into a pleasantly bitter (think radicchio) state. This is a good wine (especially for the price!) that should be enjoyed now. Although the wine contains very little Syrah it shows up in all of the right places and is a wonderful blending partner to the Italian Teroldego grape. This is an easy drinking wine that could be enjoyed on its own but would pair nicely with rabbit, pickerel, vegetable based dishes, bitter greens, pork/ham with a fruit preparation, light pâté, nuts or prosciutto.

Lighter and duller in ruby colour than I had expected. Blueberry pie, raisins, black licorice, black olives, balsamic, ink, tar and white pepper on the nose. Palate was dry with medium levels of acidity, body and tannin structure, yet a high level of alcohol perceived. Flavours of black currant, blue and blackberries, raisins, figs, cocoa, coffee beans, balsamic, white pepper, tar and minerality; ending in a medium length finish. This is a good wine and would suggest drinking it now; there is not enough complexity and structure to warrant years of additional cellaring. A Spanish version of Amarone is a fitting description for this wine. I enjoyed this wine with a heavily seasoned beef loin and rosemary potatoes/carrots. The notable pairing here was the flavour of rosemary, working together to bring out the best of both wine and food. Other pairings would include lamb, osso bucco, sharp cheddar and a charcuterie plate.
