Brut Prestige

Mumm Napa Brut Prestige Sparkling White

Napa Valley, California, United States

Roger scored this wine: 93/100

The many accolades for Mumm Napa Brut Prestige are well deserved (WE 92 & WS 90) and a fantastic value at $20. A delicious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir results in a beautiful layering of citrus, honey, melon and a touch of strawberry. May I have another glass, please?

Dutton Ranch

Sequana Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir 2008

A big-boy Pinot with rich fruit and well-structured tannins made by Pinot Noir specialist James MacPhail . A beautifully complex wine with flavors of dark cherry, plum, raspberries that finish with a touch of oaky caramel. Give this wine your full attention and you’ll be well rewarded. ..

Another great wine from Belle Glos. Very full bodied, structured yet supple. Wonderful dark berry flavors and spice. This rich Pinot Noir could command my attention all night. It paired very well with our Thanksgiving smoked turkey. W.E. rated this Pinot Noir 90…I’d say 92.

Sarmento Vineyard

Sequana Vineyards is a joint venture between Pinot genius James MacPhail (MacPhail Family Wines) and the Hess Collection. Hess let’s James do his Pinot thing and the result is a delicious full bodied Pinot Noir with complex flavors of black cherry, smokiness, spice and plum with even a hint of bacon. Get your lips around anything James MacPhail puts in a bottle.

Barricia

Ravenswood Barricia Zinfandel 2007

Sonoma Valley, California, United States

Patience, Grasshooper, Patience. Ravenswood Barrica Single Vineyard is a very structured Zinfandel. At opening this zinfandel (24% Petite Sirah) is a bit tight, but give it time to breathe and it opens nicely albeit still structured. This old vine, low yield, dry farmed vineyard produces an intense and perfumed wine. We were surprised at how well this wine paired with our dinner of pasta with a rustic spicy Italian meat/tomato sauce. The food enhanced the wine and the wine enhanced the food. The way it should be!
