Brut Vintage

Dom PĂ©rignon Brut Vintage Champagne 2006

Champagne A.C., France
2973 days ago

Lori scored this wine: 99/100

I only left out 1 percentage point on this wine - but could very well have given it 100. Words to describe it are endless; brioche, mineral, vibrancy, toasty lees, citrus, creamy, honey, impeccable - but most of all Spectacular! If you are only going to buy one champagne for a special occasion this would fit the bill. Long delicious finish that will leave you wanting more! Tasted Oct. 2/2016

Black Label

Wolf Blass Black Label 2010

Lori scored this wine: 96/100

Chief Winemaker at Wolf Blass Chris Hatcher compared this to a Ferrari and I have to say I agree. Lots of dark fruit, tobacco, cigar, smoke and leather. Chewy tannins with a good balance of acidity. This blend of Cab Sauv., Shiraz and Malbec makes a wine that is multi-layered both on the nose and the palate. It has a long smoky finish that keeps you wanting more. I drank it paired with a rare steak and would say it was a match made in heaven!

Lori scored this wine: 96/100

This is a blockbuster of a Cabernet from Casella. Layers of aromas and flavours; cassis, blackberry, smoke and leather. Elegant tannins with juicy flavours of blackberry and plum. Long fruit forward finish. Serve this for a special occasion and savour every sip! Tasted March 26, 2017.

Casella Family Brands 1919 Shiraz 2010

Lori scored this wine: 95/100

This is a gorgeous Shiraz from McLaren Vale. Layers of aromas; black pepper, leather, smoke, cigar and some milk chocolate. Juicy but elegant. Tannins are evident but smooth and acidity is fresh. Flavours of spice and black plum. Long fruit and tannin finish. Pair with a roast pork or bbq ribs - done on my Big Green Egg! My mouth is watering! Tasted March 26, 2017.

Sassicaia 2016

Bolgheri-Sassicaia Doc, Italy

Lori scored this wine: 95/100

If you have some spare cash on October 27/2019 head to the LCBO. This latest release of Sassicaia will be available in Vintages. Here's your chance to put a bottle (or bottles) of Super Tuscans in your cellar. It's been said this is a wine to rival the highly acclaimed 1985 vintage. Now, having NOT tasted that bottle I can't compare - but I will say this is a wine worth every cent you will spend on it. The blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc alone is enough to give pause. Tenuta San Guido's technical sheets say for the climate that: "2016 is a vintage worthy of praise, considered by some even better than the exceptional 2015" Layers and layers of aromas and flavour; dark brooding fruit; blackberry and black cherry. Spice and herbs, caramel and vanilla. Definitive tannins that are very present but will smooth out with age. Balanced acidity and a long long finish that you want to go on forever. I've got a few weeks to save up - trust me - I am!! Tasted September 17/2019 Grand Marchi
