Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Pale straw with aromas of gooseberry, line, pear, aprocot and some traces of tropical fruit. Bright acidity, slightly oily mouth-feel, and tastes of gooseberry, lime, and peach. Very zippy, and perfect for seafood, green salads, or summer sipping.
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pale straw in colour with intense aromas of lime, apricot, gooseberry and tropical fruits. The flavours match the intensity of the aromas with lime and gooseberry and apricot following through. It is light bodied, crisp clean and refreshing, teaming with mouth watering acidity. A great match with soft creamy cheeses, salads and seafood. (Tasted on March 26, 2017)
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine comes right down the middle with capsicum, lemongrass, and gooseberry heavily featured. 90 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This pale Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand's South Island has a zippy tropicalness about it. Pink grapefruit, tropical fruit and herbs fill the nose while lime, apricot and melon tingle the palate. Great paired with a goat cheese topped salad or chicken in a creamy tarragon sauce. Tasted March 2017.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Heady gooseberry, apricot and lime aromas follow through wth a juicy lime finish. A wonderful pairing for creamy pasta dishes, sharp cheeses or garden salads.
Tasted March 2017.
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Perfect pesto wine! Lovely gooseberry, lemon, grapefruit, canned peas and grassy flavours, with high acidity to make it the perfect food wine. Try pairing with mint or basil for a fun flavour explosion!
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Herbaceous, citrus, peach and minerality on the nose with with a lots of lemon, lime, and apricot on the palate, decent acidity. Lingering lime zest finish.
From New Zealand's South Island and Waimea Estates, Spinyback (2015) is a more tropical Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit, mango and pink grapefruit flavours all wrapped up with a mouthwatering acidity. Lovely length here and tasty. Drink now and into 2018. - Community Wine Reviews
