Natalie's Score: 93/100

A vibrant Sauvignon Blanc that shows the extra richness and layering of about four months aging on the lees. Still, there's no oak here, just stainless steel to preserve fruit purity. You can almost sense the vibrancy of New Zealand light in the glass with this wine. Enjoy with salads and vegetarian or Thai dishes.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: shellfish, chicken and sage skewers, fresh tomato and basil salad, pan-fried freshwater fish.

Reviews and Ratings

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wow - @AlastairMaling knows how to make great wine! This is a cut above your typical NZ Sauvignon Blanc! Layers of delightful aromas wafting from my glass - gooseberry is prevalent but underlying citrus, herbaceous notes, grapefruit to name just a few. Crisp acidity and a long finish. Lovely!
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cool pale straw, almost water white appearance; but more importantly, a substantial NZ Sauv Bl. A neat mix of lemon, grapefruit, green apple, green pineapple, fresh grass and lemon grass. Key thing here, it's not overly green but still speaks Marlborough terroir! High zippy acidity, light bodied and medium-short lemon zesty finish. Paid with Greek salad and fried calamari. Yummy!
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Very pale straw with aromas of lime, gooseberry, and canned green vegetables. The taste is lemon and lime with some of the vegetal taste carrying through as well. Bright acidity and a long lemon and lime finish. An excellent pairing with green salad or barbecued vegetables with olive oil.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A typical Marlborough New Zealand Sauv Blanc nose showing canned peas, asparagus, grassy/herbal notes, gooseberry and citrus lime. On the palate, gooseberry, asparagus, grassy/herbal touchesand a little lime. Dry, light-bodied mouthfeel with a short vegetal finish.
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

Clear yellow color.

Powerful notes of kiwi, herb, grapefruit and citrus.

The palate is nerve, creamy, rich and long.

Pair it with Thai dishes.

Serve it at 10-12 degrees.

Ready to drink but can be aged 2-3 years.
Astrid Young - Sommelier ISG CAPS rated this wine as 82/100 with the following review:

Grassy, gooseberry and grapefruit pith, medium weight, some overripe notes on the back, stewed asparagus ... Which ought not to be pleasant, but it's not too bad, only coming in on the finish. Firm acids, overripe flavors on the finish.
The Autri Valley where the fruit is grown for this wine is cooler on average than other regions in New Zealand. This Sauvignon has more intensity and more seriousness in both flavour and weight. - Community Wine Reviews
