Lots of maturity on the nose of this attractive Italian red wine with aromas of tanned leather, cigar box and dried herbs. Nicely balanced acidity. Medium-bodied and mouth-watering. This wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Pair with veal.

Food pairings: roasted vegetable casserole with piquant cheese, hard cheeses, pasta and rich tomato meat sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This full bodied Tuscan red is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the bouquet is impressive - leather, earth, wild game, coffee and cassis. The palate is exquisite and packing a punch of flavors including cassis, cherry, balsamic, leather, game and gloriously silky tannins. Truly outstanding.
Villa Cafaggio Cortaccio (2008) is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon red wine from the Tuscany wine region and is aging nicely just showing some signs of maturity and it quite elegant. Look for dried cherries, leathery notes and spice on the palate. Villa Caffagio dates back to 1498. - Community Wine Reviews
