Lush and supple, medium-plus-bodied red wine blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon wine grapes. Look for dark cherry, brambleberry, earthy florals, cold tea and savoury herb flavours on the palate. Good backbone with grainy tannins. Decant two hours prior to pouring with a grilled New York striploin steak. Or cellar for another two years.

Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: cheese stuffed tortellini with rich tomato sauce, veal parmesan, chicken stew and roasted vegetables.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Bright notes of cherry and a hint of floral on the nose lead to red fruit and licorice on the palate. The tannins need time to settle down but it will be sure to reward after a couple of years in the cellar. Tasted Nov 15, 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
From the Emilia Romagna wine region, Umberto Cesari Liano 2016 is a rich, medium-plus-bodied red wine blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon wine grapes with ripe dark fruit, dark chocolate, savoury herbs and smoky flavours on the palate. The historic Umberto Cesari estate has been a major player in establishing the reputation of the IGT Rubicone appellation. Tannins are firm. Good now, but better in 2021. - Community Wine Reviews
