A liquid gorgeous Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon red wine blend with ripe dark cherry, earthy dark chocolate, cold black tea, anise, savoury herb and vanilla flavours on the palate. Tannins are structured and grippy. Decant one hour prior to pouring with a meaty lasagne or Bistecca Florentine.

Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: cheese stuffed tortellini with rich tomato sauce, veal parmesan, chicken stew and roasted vegetables.

Reviews and Ratings

Natalie MacLean rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby coloured Super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, with soft medium plus tannins, medium plus acidity, medium body, dry and medium alcohol. A pronounced aroma with smoky and savoury notes, ripe dark cherry and red and black currants and vanilla. Aromas repeat on palate. Pleasant on it's own or with tomato based dishes.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Happy to discover this wine!
Fragrant bouquet with tart cherry and vanilla, like a Sangiovese, followed by a more full-bodied palate showing the influence of the Cab Sauv, with more dark berry, mint, vanilla and spicy elements. Tannins a bit chewy. Lots of delicious dark chocolate on the lingering finish. Overall, very enjoyable. Enjoy with grilled red meats, or roast game. Serve at 18-20 C.
Tasted Sept. 2022 @Dandurand/Univins event.
Umberto Cesari Liano 2018 is a medium-bodied Sangiovese-driven blend lush and supple with dark cherry, brambleberry, savoury herb, vanilla and anise spice on the palate. Good backbone with dusty tannins. Enjoy with a meaty lasagne. - Community Wine Reviews
