Torbreck’s Old Vines Grenache, Mourvèdre and Shiraz (65%/10%/25%) is produced from hand-picked grapes from the Barossa Valley, home to some very ancient vines; some more than 100 years old. Grapes are gently basket-pressed with the free-run juice fermented and then aged in older French oak barrels. This tender loving care is evident in their wine. Lush and concentrated with juicy red berry, smoked meat and sweet cake spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are velvety. Delicious now, but should show its best during the next five years.

Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre food pairings: pepper steak, grilled lamb sausages, meat pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This 65% Grenache/10% Shiraz/25% Mourvedre is showing dusty notes of sandalwood spice over dried strawberry on the nose. The fruit and the spice carry to the palate. Silky, smooth and rich with good fruit concentration and a medium plus finish. Pair with beef bourguignon. Drink now or cellar for up to 5 years. Tasted February 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Torbreck 2017 GSM is produced from old vines Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre that are hand-harvested with a gentle basket-pressing to free their juices, fermented and then aged in older French oak barrels. Very much in the style of the Southern Rhone-style reds showing intense ripe cherry, black plum, mint leaf, earthiness, sweet cake spice and smoke/flint notes. Tannins are ripe. Drinking beautiful now and for the next six years. - Community Wine Reviews
