Totally coffee-espresso on the nose and palate of this pinotage. Weirdly wonderful: end your day with the alcoholic version of your morning coffee. Full-bodied and smooth red wine with some black fruit flavours as well. The coffee-style pinotage has become popular among South African winemakers. The aromas and flavours are derived from toasting the French oak barrels in which the wine is matured. Try it with gourmet hamburgers or meat lovers' pizza.

Pinotage food pairings: coffee-rubbed beef, grilled peppercorn steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Aimee Fowler - WSET L2 rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

The Bean Coffee Pinotage hints in the name what to expect on the nose and palate of the wine. This medium-bodied red wine elicits a lot of oak on the nose and palate through flavours of tobacco, vanilla, mocha, espresso, toasted hazelnut and cedar wood. Fruit comes through with black cherry, prune and plum. There is a slight vegetal note on the nose as well with notes of asparagus, cooked green pepper and fresh beets. It is smooth to drink with decent acidity, and soft tannins. A delicious new world find!
South African is becoming known for its coffee-aroma Pinotage red wines, the coffee, espresso notes come from both the toasting and type of oak barrels used to mature the wines. - Community Wine Reviews
