A gorgeously rich and deep Italian red wine. This classic Amarone is made using the traditional Appassimento method of drying grapes on woven mats to add body, richness, depth, concentration, colour and flavour to the finished wine. Juicy aromas of fleshy ripe blackberry and plums. Long finish. Pair with grilled meats.

Amarone Della Valpolicella food pairings: grilled steak, tortellini, pasta and rich tomato sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A super expressive Amarone that displays the layers of rich dried fruit that went into making this fine Valpolicella wine. Oodles of dark dried fruit, plum, baking spice, crème de cassis, cedar, and a touch of tar on the nose and palate. It's dry but with richly flavoured dried fruit and spice, it gives the perception of having a slight sweetness which is partially to thank from the 15.5% abv... Enjoy this delicious Amarone now and over the next five years with practically anything you'd like from winter stews, summer BBQ, grilled pizza, and firm cheese. A delicious wine that I highly recommend! Tasted January 2017. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.mattswinepicks.com
