Valpolicella Ripasso food pairings: grilled steaks, slow-cooked beef, osso buco.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Ripasso style is made by refermenting a young wine on used Amarone skins, thus imparting richer flavours. This full-bodied elegant Ripasso shows layers of fragrant ripe cherry, dried fruit, baking spice, vanilla and leather in a satiny texture and smooth, satisfying finish. Enjoy with truffle risotto, hard cheeses.

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A lovely Ripasso, with well integrated layers and well rounded tannins. There is lots of dark fruit, wood, spice and vanilla on the palate. What a treat - It screams rich, hard cheeses.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A gorgeous fruit forward Ripasso. Ripe field berries and spearmint dominate the aromas. The palate shows a medium-bodied mouthfeel with long lasting berry flavours, hints of anise, cocoa, and moderately chewy tannins. Enjoy with beef ravioli. Tasted Feb 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
This wine made in the Ripasso style is showing concentration of black cherry, dark chocolate and spice on the nose and palate. It finishes long - perfect complement to hearty game and meat dishes. - Community Wine Reviews
