A robust, mature-tasting Italian red wine with classic aromas of smoke, tanned leather, dried earth and tobacco leaves. Made from old vines and aged in oak barrels. Amazing for the price. Pair with rare steak.

Cannonau food pairings: braised beef dishes, turkey, soft cheese, roasted pork, lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Fantastic old world riserva for old world Grenache lovers. Dark plum, ferrous wet stone minerality, racy red berry and aged leather. Beautiful with Italian charcuterie platter. Tasted 2014 riserva in Nov 2017. 91 points. Great value. #BespokeTastings
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Once you get past the "earthy, smoky, rustic, composty" notes, you'll find an incredible value-priced old world Italian Grenache (Cannonou). Key notes include (aside from the compost) black plum, dark berries, cocoa, and leather. Enjoy this medium-full bodied red with aged cheese and salumi. Tasted Nov 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Excellent value. Cherry, blackberry, smokey earth and toast. Hints of mushrooms and leafy forest. Flavours are fruity and rich with cherry and stewed strawberries, dark cocoa, leather, herbs and rosemary herbs. Medium plus acidity, tannins and body with some smoke and salted licorice on the end. Pair with salami, smoked cheeses and coppa ham. 90 points. January 2018
