Curious about Vouvray? Pour yourself a glass of this refreshing French white wine. Lots of mouth-watering acidity here for food or as an aperitif. White pear and peach on the finish of this bone-dry wine. Racy (and bracing) acidity offers freshness with crisp white grapefruit and pear notes. Cries out for food. Bone-dry and perfect for salads and shellfish.

Vouvray food pairings: grilled chicken, green salads, shellfish.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A great pick for summer! Aromas of yellow apple, pear, fig, and a note of honey. A bit of a mineral note on the palate. Vibrant, with a nice balance of honey and fruit on the palate, but only a touch of sweetness. Enjoy with aged cheese and prosciutto.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

On the nose, there are rich aromas of honey, almonds, and bruised apple.

It is creamy and round on the palate, with apple flavours, lime, mineral notes, and a lingering nutty finish. Lovely!

Courtney Flood rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium-light body but very fresh. Lime zest, crisp apple and fresh cut herb (parsley). Slight salinity. Great food wine, pair with oysters, sashimi or an arugala salad. Serve cold on a patio.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Vouvray is delicious and comes in a myriad of styles. It is always made with Chenin Blanc and can be sparkling or still, dry or sweet. This one sits somewhere between sweet and dry. It is not bubbly, though it has a lot of refreshing acidity and you may notice some dissolved CO2, upon opening. That is totally normal. It is just a sign of reductive winemaking.
Aromas are very tropical. Starfruit and sour green plum, mainly.
Flavous of quince, pear, green fig, honey, and lime juice.
Pair it with aged cheeses and dried fruit. It is a great summer wine and this one has a nice pricepoint.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Interesting nose on this one. Lots of sweet apple and honey with a citrus finish.

This off-dry wine would pair with spicy food, which helps cut the spiciness.

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

Floral honey aromas with pronounced juicy apple (apple cider-esque) flavours. If you are used to light crisp whites like Pinot Grigio or Chablis, you'll find that this Vouvray (made from the Chenin Blanc grape) carries more weight and fruit characteristics. Altogether, it's a clean mouthwatering easy drinking summer sipper. It's your perfect picnic wine to enjoy with a smorgasbord of cheese, dried fruit and cured meats. Tasted May 2018 by @sommsosa
Raimbault Bel-Air 2014 is a crisp Chenin Blanc with bracing acidity. This Vouvray from the Loire wine region is bone dry and so fresh with white peach and fresh pear flavours on the palate. This vintage was awarded Silver at the 2016 Concours des Vins du Val de Loire. - Community Wine Reviews
