Superb craftsmanship in this benchmark Italian red wine. Complex and layered with aromas of cigar box, dark spice and earth. Mature beyond its years in a great way -- this wine is already rewarding us with tertiary aromas that we usually have to wait for many more years to develop: tanned leather, tobacco leaves and violets. Pair with juicy rack of lamb.

Food pairings: rack of lamb, stuffed breast of veal, vegetarian lasagna.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Incredible! This is such a worthy and enticing wine. Ripe red cherry, floral and sage dominate the nose. The Palate is tangy and mouthwatering. Flavours include cherry, sweet spice, and a touch of dried herbs. This wine is full-bodied with a long delicious finish. Enjoy pairing with braised veal shanks and polenta. Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby with a garnet hue, Quintarelli's Primofiore 2012 shows rustic balsamic notes, stewed and dried fruit, plum, and spice. Soft and inviting this is a very interesting and delicious wine from the land of Romeo and Juliet. Highly recommended and what a great Christmas gift for that special person in your life. Tasted November 2016. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Quintorelli Primofiore (2012) is sourced from old vine grape vines and is a rich red wine blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine is layered, complex, almost Amarone-like style. Drink now or cellar for a few more years for the wine to reach its mature potential. - Community Wine Reviews
