This is a great example of South African Chenin Blanc with seductive aromas of Asian pear and something I can only describe as black apricot. Oak imparts baked bread and wraps this wine beautifully. Baking spices on the finish of this exotically wonderful wine. Pair with mild curries.

Chenin Blanc food pairings: vegetarian pizza, white fleshed fish, mild sausage, Greek salad, game fowl.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Lovely, crisp and zesty South African chenin Blanc. Medium plus bodied, well balanced. Long finish with persistence of honeysuckle, green melon, candied lemon and a hint of herbaceousness and savoury. Pairs well with lemon zest led baked filet of sole, seasonal veggies and a rice pilaf. Tasted 2016 vintage in November 2018. 88 points. #GoodValue
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

Pale gold with green reflections. Super aromatic and floral notes of honeysuckle, cantaloupe, sweetpea and vanilla white pepper and potpourri. Well placed oak integration that shows a smokey, toasty aspect.

On the palate: tart pineapple grilled mango bits and all kinds of tropical fruit. High acidity, medium body and a long finish with tart nutmeg spices continuing. This was very nice and a very good QPR $14.95. Pair with sweet and sour chicken, fish cakes and waldorf salad. 84 points
This South African Chenin Blanc from the Western Cape wine district is a perfect example of what this S.A. signature white grape can do. Mulderbosch (2016) has a nose of ripe Asian pear, hay, honey and cake spice with a fine mineral vein running through it. Well-balanced and delish. Pair with mild curries. - Community Wine Reviews
