This is a great example South African Chenin Blanc with seductive aromas of Asian pear and something I can only describe as black apricot. Oak imparts baked bread and wraps this wine beautifully. Baking spices on the finish of this exotically wonderful wine. Pair with mild curries.

Chenin Blanc food pairings: pizza, white fleshed fish, mild sausage, Greek salad, game.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This white wine stays true to it's varietal character but punches a little above it's weight class as it approaches medium-bodied loveliness. Medium lemon colour with intense aromas and flavours of ripe tropical fruit, lemon, pear, apple, floral, oak, sweet spices and matchstick. Dry with balanced acidity and lingering warm finish. Wins points for typicity and value at $15. Pair South African Chenin Blanc with pork chops and apple sauce, sweet and sour Asian foods, scallops, creamy sauce pastas.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Fresh and lovely, with exotic pear, floral and oaky notes. Medium-bodied, dry and delicious from start to finish.

Chenin Blanc is the great undiscovered, under-valued white wine of South Africa -- and the world. You must try this at least once in your life. This winery was established in 1989 and is part of the wine industry's conservation effort in South Africa. Love the design of this "cigar" label. Lots of minerality on the finish. - Community Wine Reviews
