Natalie's Score: 89/100

Full-bodied with fleshy black plums and mint. Moderate tannins and good juicy palate for tangy meat sauces. The vines are planted on a south-facing slope in limestone. Vintages Wine Panel: This family-owned winery celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2009, an impressive milestone. Aged for 18 months in seasoned American oak, this Shiraz showcases juicy black fruit, mocha and spice flavours. Generous, silky smooth and with good depth of flavour, this red is ready to drink. And yes, the name is a tribute to The Beatles’ song. My note: A smoky, coffeed nose with black fruit and a lick of oak on the finish. Full-bodied and dense. Very tasty!

Shiraz food pairings: saucy ribs, smoked leg of lamb, venison tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I very much enjoyed the layering of flavours in this wine. The black berry and black plums are augmented by a mentholated quality. On top of that is hung meat, Kenya AA coffee, warm baking spice, dried purple flowers, and some melted black licorice for good measure. Lovely stuff. Drink now through 2023. 91 Points.
From South Australia's McLaren Vale wine region, Silver Hammer (2014) is a full-bodied, deep and dark Shiraz with a smoky, black fruit, mocha and spicy nose. On the palate this robust red is dark chocolate, blackberry and plum. Lovely to sniff and even better to drink now and for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews
