Natalie's Score: 89/100

This winery was founded in 1858 and all the vines are 15 years or older. Picking is done by hand and the wine is aged for 26 months in American oak barrels. Dollops of dark fleshy red berries, cedar and smoke. It's tannic so decant 1-2 hours. Riojas are a wonderful change from the usual all-fruit full-bodied reds of the New World: you can explore more subtle and mature aromas like leather and cigar box in this wine.

Tempranillo Graciano Mazuelo food pairings: mature cheeses, stew, cooked legumes, roast, grilled meats.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
