Natalie's Score: 90/100

Good balance with black cherry aromas and flavours but not overly sweet. Medium-bodied and smooth and a fair price for this quality, especially for Pinot Noir, which is always expensive because it's so difficult to grow. This hails from one of California's cool climate regions in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma which creates the balance in the wine from cool nights. Produced by Ernest & Julio Gallo, this Californian Pinot Noir offers the balance that's the signature of the Sonoma region. The original MacMurray homestead was settled 150 years ago. Offers notes of sage, black raspberry and spice. Polished tannins.

Pinot Noir food pairings: ratatouille, smoked salmon, veal, grilled pork, beef bourguignon.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Slip into this silky Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley of Sonoma. Nice medium weight with cherry, cranberry, prune, garrigue, floral, and finishing long with wood spice and smoke. A nicely rounded wine with cool Central Coast nights keeping acidity fresh. Very enjoyable. Good value for a very good California Pinot Noir. More please! Pair with holiday turkey.

Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Expressing rich aromas and flavors of red fruits and fresh, earthy notes. Restrained when young, it will evolve into a smooth, complex wine with time in the bottle.

Expression d’arômes riches et de saveurs de fruits rouges et de notes fraîches et terreuses. Restreint quand il est jeune, il évoluera en un vin doux et complexe avec du temps en bouteille.
