This Chenin Blanc produced by Ken Forrester is an elegant South African white wine made from Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc grapes. The grapes are hand-picked and sustainably farmed, with no herbicides or pesticides. The vines average 35 years of age. This wine is barrel and tank-fermented then aged on its lees for 9 months to add more richness. Wonderful mouthfeel and smoothness met by crisp acidity on this wine. Clean and fresh like an early spring breeze. Mouth-watering, medium-bodied and crisp. Terrific white peach and floral notes. I continue to be impressed with South African Chenin blanc: it's a lovely change from other whites. Great for after an evening dip in the pool. Quince and orange zest on the finish.

Chenin Blanc food pairings: white fleshed fish, Greek salad, game, grilled pork, salmon tartare served on homemade crisps.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is an interesting Chenin Blanc. There is petrol on the nose that gives way to a hint of smoke. It is slightly effervescent on the palate with a citrus note and an acid backbone. There is a trace of oak on the long, lingering finish. But for the hint of sourness on the palate I would have rated this much higher. It would definitely be a great match for seafood and salads. Look for ripe melon, zesty citrus and ripe stonefruit flavours on the palate. Drink now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
