The 4 Meses translates to 4 months and is how long the wine was aged in a mix of French and American oak barrels giving the wine a gentle toastiness on the palate. Produced from 100% Monastrell (Mourvèdre) from vines planted at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level in Jumilla, this is a full-bodied red with a mouthful of ripe dark fruit, dark cherry finishing smoky and savoury on the palate.

Monastrell food pairings: veal chops in creamy white wine sauce, veal schnitzel, Osso Buco, veal liver and olives in rose sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Excellent value. Aromas of dark cherry with smoke and spice. Full bodied, with young tannins, and bright acidity. On the palate there are dark berry, oak and smoke hints, and a warm, spicy finish. Enjoy with mild chorizo sausage.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A tasteful Monastrell from the Jumilla region of Spain, the Juan Gil 2018 offers aromas of plum sauce, blackberry, black olive, lavender, mocha and sweet tobacco. Big and full-bodied, the wine shows good balance and a juicy finish, great for sipping after dinner. Palate: black raspberry, jam, oregano, game, vanilla and mocha. Enjoy!
From the Jumilla wine region, Juan Gil Yellow Label 2018 Monastrell is fantastic value under $15. This is a full-bodied, juicy, savoury Spanish red with lots of dark fruit, smoke and sweet dried tobacco flavours finishing long and spicy on the palate. Very nice. Pour with roast chicken. - Community Wine Reviews
