Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Fresh, creamy, beautifully balanced, and complex best describes this dry, medium-bodied and lush estate 2020 Chardonnay from Hester Creek Estate Winery. Straight off, the wine is showing ripe peaches, cream, and Meyer lemon aromas on the nose; fresh and silky on the palate with ripe stone fruit, lemon curd, buttered toast and baking spice flavours lingering on the palate.

From an exceptional, albeit smaller vintage (read: get it now especially at this price) grapes benefited from a dry and warm September allowing them to reach phenolic ripeness, and the smaller berry size also contributed to the concentration of its flavours. The 2020 vintage was the 5th warmest in growing degree days in the last two decades and, in fact, grapes were in the tank fermenting by the first week of October luckily missing the October 23, 2020 snowfall and freeze in the Okanagan Valley! About 45% of the wine was fermented in French oak barrels (35% new) with the balance in stainless-steel tanks. The wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation, as well as a weekly lees-stirring for 10 months. Tasted September 2021.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful Chardonnay showing lovely balance and tons of flavour. Aromas of golden apple and ripe pear, with hints of lemon and honey. Medium+ bodied on the palate, smooth and creamy (from malolactic fermentation) with medium acidity on the palate. Flavours bursting through are ripe peach, pear, more of that bright apple note and touches of honey and ginger on a lengthy finish. Simply delicious, Enjoy with halibut, or any scallop dish.
