Herdade Do Sobroso, Sobro 2019 is a big and rustic Portuguese red wine blend of Aragonés, Alicante, Bouchet, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes. Look for ripe dark cherry, earthy and spicy flavours on the palate. The Sobro vineyard is planted on the banks of the Guadiana River and the wine is aged in 225 litre French oak barrels for six months. This wine is so named for southern Portugal's Sobro cork oak forest.

Food pairings: pork tenderloin, hamburger, meat-lover's pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

It has been said not to judge a bottle by it cover, but this one I must is a lovely piece of art I have no regret to have purchased. The Sobroso 2019, from the lovely region of Alentejo in Portugal, offers aromas of berry jam, black cherry, dried herbs, clay dust, charcoal, spice and coffee. This delicious full-bodied Portuguese wine is blended from Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, providing structure and complexity. Fine acidity and supple tannins provide a round and long finish. Palate: black plum, raspberry, black pepper, leather, spice, coffee and cedar. Solid wine. Enjoy!
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely deep ruby wine from the Alentejo region in Portugal; one of my favourite regions for Portuguese wine. Intense aromas of blackberry, spice, vanilla, smoke, black fruit, especially dark cherries, and lavender. Soft and juicy ,dry, full bodied, with pleasing tannins and medium plus acidity. Palate was more of the same; black pepper, spice, vanilla, blackberry and cherry. Very drinkable on its own and would pair well with beef stews and a variety of pizzas.
