Full-bodied red wine from one of Portugal's premium dry red-wine producing regions (it's not all about port!). This number has a firm tannic grip on the palate and big black fruit. Rustic and tasty. Needs meat! Decant 2 hours. Finishes with cedar, spice and black plum. Try it with hamburgers.

Food pairings: pork.

Reviews and Ratings

This big Portuguese red wine is a rustic blend of Aragonés, Alicante, Bouchet, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes. Purple plums and mouth-watering acidity. The Sobro vineyard is planted on the banks of the Guadiana River and the wine is aged in 225 litre oak barrels of French and American extraction for three months. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
