Reviews and Ratings

Gwen Barton rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Pretty straw-coloured hue when in the glass. Citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Red apple, peach and honey suckle flavours. Some gentle sweetness but overall, balanced nicely with generous acidity. Velvety texture with subtle spicy notes in the finish. Suggest pairing with grilled salmon topped with herb infused butter sauce.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

From British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, a bright and shiny Pinot Gris from Gray Monk Estate Winery. Quite aromatic with nuances of lilies, daffodils and springtime tulips - alongside pear and white peach. Flavours reveal bright, refreshing citrus, pineapple and lingering hints of wet stone influenced minerality. Acidity is brisk and well balanced with quince and honeyed melon on the finish. Pair with grilled calamari and garlic pesto dipping sauce. - tasted April 2021
David Skinner rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Rose gold in colour and clean. Pear, white peach and citrus aromas particularly well lifted and aromatic. Medium acidity and a soft but refreshing mouth feel from some residual sugar. Flavours of pear, orange peel and apples persist into a medium long finish. Lovely fruit in the length.

This would pair nicely with a grilled salmon and peach salsa.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is a gorgeous expression of a Pinot Gris from the award winning Gray Monk Estate Winery, in the breathtaking Okanagan Valley in BC. Interesting fact: the original proprietors George and Trudy Heiss owned and operated the winery for over three decades. George was originally from Austria and Trudy from Hungary. "In Austria and Hungary the Pinot Gris grape is called "Grauar Monch," thus the translation to Gray Monk". After the lovely couple retired in 2017, Andrew Peller Limited acquired the winery and continue to build upon the great work of the Heiss family creating lovely wines, enjoyed by so many.

In the glass: Aromas of citrus fruit and dried apricots with lingering flavors of lemon, grapefruit and green apple. This wine is delightfully refreshing with a velvety mouthfeel and a medium long finish. A great wine to enjoy on the deck with a simple charcuterie and great company.

Dinner under the stars with my sons.

Gray Monk Pinot Gris 2019 VQA Okanagan Valley
Medium-bodied and a pinch of sweetness.
Smooth texture, and I detected a touch of viscosity. Notes of peach, apricot, apple, pear, florals, citrus and sweet spices.
Easy sipping and a perfect pairing with chicken Alfredo and Caesar salad. At $16.99 it’s a bargain! This is a buy two wine! 13.4% abv

L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The colour of this wine has a delicate pinky blush hue, a characteristic of some Pinot Gris. It has a pronounced aroma of honey, golden pear, some apple, citrus and a sweet floral with a strong note of peach as well as sweet spice evolving over time.It is off dry, with a round, rich, smooth mouthfeel and a predominant honeyed peach taste with golden pear and sweet spice notes. Food friendly acidity paired well with roasted root vegetables and roast chicken.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Alluring aromas defined this medium bodied creation from British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley appellation. Fresh green apple, intense stone fruit plus lower key floral blooms and honey emerged from the bouquet to introduce a round mouth feel where lush stone fruit flavours confidently stood centre stage. Medium plus acidity and a long finish capped off this experience. Enjoy.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Perfect for sunny spring days. Aromas of pear, white peach and creamy lemon. Medium bodied on the palate, with luscious and creamy fruit, medium acidity providing some nice balance, and a hint of minerality on the finish. Lovely and perfect for summer salads with zesty vinaigrette and maybe some goat cheese.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

2019 in the Okanagan Valley experienced a cooler than average spring and summer, allowing the grapes to slowly ripen and develop more layered aromas and flavours. This beautiful expression of Pinot Gris boasts aromas of green apple, pear, stone fruit and lime, with a velvety mouthfeel. Lime flavours pull through to a lengthy, crisp finish.
Perfect with soft cheeses, white fish or creamy pasta dishes.
Tasted April 2021.
Janet Holden rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A medium bodied, off-dry aromatic white wine with aromas of peach, apple, pear, lime and honeysuckle blossoms. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with a nice fruity finish. A great match for Pad Thai or sea food.
