Juicy and mouth-watering with sour cherry notes with some racy spicy notes on this medium-bodied, smooth French red wine. Good core of minerality with red liquorice. Very nice for the price. Pair with meaty seafood like salmon or tuna. The old vines lend richness of flavour to the grapes.

Gamay food pairings: grilled salmon teriyaki, grilled gourmet burgers, pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

From Beaujolais, Burgundy A.C., France, this dark ruby/garnet beauty has fragrant ripe red berry aromas and a smooth, mouth-watering palate with ripe berries, plums, sweet spice and oak, a lingering finish. Pair with game, roast duck, hard cheese.
Tasted Feb. 2017
Produced by Les Terroirs Originels, this medium-bodied, tart southern French red wine is the 2014 vintage of this Grand Cras Vieilles Vignes Morgon and is made form grapes grown in the centre of Cru Morgon in Beaujolais planted on steep and well exposed slopes. Five generations of the family have owned and operated this winery. Dark ruby colour with red and black berries on the finish. Polished tannins. Youthful, with firm tannins and lots of acidity. - Community Wine Reviews
