Reviews and Ratings

Jacqueline Cochrane rated this wine as 93/100
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A nice California Cabernet Sauvignon with black fruit and smoke on the nose with black cherry, blackberry, vanilla and some mocha on the palate. Finishes with soft tannins that linger in the mouth.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Puissant effort from Michael David (ie: maker of Seven Dealy Zins). A bold barbecue wine that threatens to be a fruit-bomb, but gives you some nice spice and surprisingly un-Cali character.
Virtually opaque, but with some ruby red and purple edges.
Aromas of roasted nuts, squished cherries, and burning wood. There is some nice sage, pain grille, and chocolate covered cherry, if you can resist and let it open up.
Heavy mouth-feel. Tons of dark fruit: blackberry, dark cherry, macerated strawberry, and plum. The spice is a lot less available on the palate. There is some leather, cherry candy, sage, and bay on the finish.
Pair it with a strip steak sandwich and a ton of caramelized onions. An unapologetic barbecue wine for sure.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
