Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Typical Nebbiolo colour makes this wine look much older than 2017 with classic shades of tawny and brick. Roses, cherry Halls, cherry candy, and red licorice aromas. Big tannins and acid, bodes well for food pairing and cellaring. Finish long and drawn out with dark fruits, black cherry, and plum skins. Serve with Piemonte truffle risotto.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Excellent value at this price point. Aromas of cherry, leather, wet clay and a slight floral hint. Medium+ bodied, slightly tart on the palate with grippy tannins and a long finish. Enjoy with toasted leg of lamb or mushroom dishes.
From the Langhe, Piedmont wine region, Fontanafredda 2017 is a solid and well-priced Nebbiolo under $20 with lots of ripe red berry, spice flavours and vibrant acidity for food. The wine was matured in French oak for eight months. Pair with charcuterie. - Community Wine Reviews
