From the Twenty Mile Bench in the Niagara Escarpment wine region, Featherstone's Joy Premium Cuvée is a perfect aperitif to toast the New Year in or a great companion to fresh steamed lobster with a citrus butter sauce. Joy Premium Cuvée 2013 is made in the traditional method with 100 % Chardonnay. Look for a fine and persistent mousse with white flowers and fresh baked bread on the nose and palate finishing creamy with lemon pudding flavours. Chill and pair with seafood canapes.

Sparkling food pairings: spinach salad with red berries, pomegranate and goat cheese, spinach souffle, pan-fried freshwater fish.

Jisun Hahn CAPS Certified Somm rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This delightful sparkling wine would be a wonderful choice to bring to your next holiday gathering. Produced in the traditional method yet offered at a very reasonable price. This wine is a Blanc de Blancs (meaning 100% Chardonnay), the aromas are crisp lemons, freshly baked brioche and tart green apple, the palate is quite similar to the nose with elevated acidity balanced with a nice creamy finish. A true tantalizing treat for the palate. Lovely paired with lemon garlic butter scallops or simply on its own to toast any festive gathering.
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Traditional method, 100% Chardonnay, and 31 months on lees. A terrific Champagne-style bubbly from the 2019 Winemaker of the Year Dave Johnson and the Featherstone team. Toasty biscuit and brioche, lees/yeast, and wet stone with green apple and lemon aromatics. Extra dry, super crisp, and pleasantly textured. Extended finish replaying the stylings of the bouquet and palate. Fantastic value as a comparable Champagne would likely cost twice as much in the Ontario market. Ideal for oysters or fried chicken.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Featherstone's 2013 Premium Cuvée Joy is a great example of an award winning Niagara traditional method sparkling wine. The fruit for this Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) was sourced from the Featherstone Vineyard along the Twenty Mile Bench. Handpicked mid-September, aged on its lees, disgorged two years later, and bottle-aged since Septemer 2016, the wine has retained its fresh orchard fruit and mineral characteristics with the added complexity of nutty and toasty notes. A beautiful palate cleansing mousse that leaves you thirsting for that next sip. Very limited production, this makes a great gift for any wine collector to enjoy now and over the next 5 years. Look for it this holiday season at LCBO. Tasted November 2019. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Toasty notes of sourdough waft up in the glass. It has a lovely fine mousse and wonderful tension. Hints of lemon and mild ginger on the palate. Wonderful for toasting or with appetizers. Tasted 22 November, 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Featherstone are a quality winery from the more western section of Niagara (the Escarpment area).
Fusty and autolytic, this sparkling (made on a cooler vintage) gets much of its flavour from the dead yeasty lees.
It has a nice medium lemon colour. Tremendously persistent bubbles.
It has some of the primary character you would expect from Niagara Escarpment fruit; lots of orchard fruit and lemon lozenge.
Flavours of sourdough, lemon, yellow apple, and nectarine.
It is built with a lot of structure. It can probably age too. Giving it some time in the cellar might male some of the components more harmonious. It is an intensely flavourful wine, though, and if you are looking for a quality holiday sparkling that packs good value for quality v. price, mission accomplished.
Pair this with squash soup and cashews.
