This Vouvray also features lemon zest, mango and some lovely, luxurious candle wax notes (the latter, more texture than flavour). Very viscous, voluptuous and mouth-filling. This lovely Loire Valley Chenin Blanc offers floral notes. It's zesty and festive with attractive aromas of white peach. A terrific aperitif or companion to vegetarian dishes. A lick of sweetness makes it versatile with dishes such as glazed ham.

Vouvray food pairings: honey-glazed pork, mango chicken, coquilles St. Jacques.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

100% Chenin Blanc, this Vouvray shows sweet orchard fruit and honey. The palate is creamy with a touch of sweetness making this a great wine to enjoy with nutty baked Brie hors d'oeuvres. Tasted January 2015. 88 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Neil Phillips rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A classic Vouvray, this example off-dry.

Nose of honey, peach, pear, green apple.

Waxy mouthfeel of Chenin Blanc; the slight residual sugar makes this ideal as an aperitif, or balance for some slightly spicy foods or tart appetizers. Lemon notes on the medium-plus length finish.

Tasted February 2016.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Tasted this wine in a blind tasting alongside a California Chenin Blanc. The two were very different. The 20 g/l of sugar was immediately apparent, however a good amount of acidity balanced it out nicely! Pale straw in colour, notes of honey, green apple and peach on the nose. Smooth mouthfeel with a hint of beeswax and a medium finish. This was an excellent match with brie served after the tasting.
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Alex: A pleasant medium-sweet Vouvray with a waxen texture and notes of white peach, lemon peel, light beeswax and white flowers. The 2014 vintage shows a style more towards fruit richness, and it is indeed expressive and delightful. Only drawback is it could use more acidity to balance the sweetness in my view, but some would prefer it this way. Above average, a tasty drop and a fantastic accompaniment to the Indian food we drank it with. 86 pts

Priya: I really enjoyed this wine, and agree it was a balance for the rather spicy Indian takeout! It had the perfect amount of sweetness without being 'sweet' and managed to take away the spicy edge of the food. All in all an enjoyable meal made better by the wine. 87pts
Old World Chenin Blanc is a classic white wine not to be missed. This Vouvray features ripe aromas of tropical tree fruit. In 1929, the Donatien Bahuaud winery was established and now produces Vouvray with great terroir typicity. - Community Wine Reviews
