Toasty on the nose with dark ripe plums, ripe red and dark berries, dried herbs and cocoa on the palate. Decoy is a juicy, smooth and generous Merlot from the Sonoma county, Napa Valley winery of Duckhorn which was established in 1985. Pair it with, you got it, duck confit with small roasted potatoes and small pearl onions.

Merlot food pairings: borsch (beet soup), quesadillas, Tandoori-flavored dishes, lentil dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cherry and strawberry notes dominate the nose and palate. Some vanilla on the palate blends in nicely before a finish with soft tannins. Would pair well with grilled pork or chicken tacos. Tasted April 2019 at the California Wine Fair Ottawa tasting.
Duckhorn Decoy 2017 is a full-bodied, juicy Merlot from Sonoma County, California. Produced by the Duckhorn Winery. Love the toasty oak and dark plum nose. Lush and full on the palate with layers of red and dark berries, cocoa, dried herbs and savoury spice. Established in 1985, Decoy is the Sonoma arm of the winery. Enjoy now and for the next five years with roast goose. - Community Wine Reviews
