From the Niagara wine region in Ontario, Creekside's Laura's 2016 is a full-bodied Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon with 2% Syrah added into the mix and showing a lot of promise. On the nose field berries, wet stone, chocolate, earthiness and hint of vanilla. There's plenty of acidity for food and some warming alcohol on the palate. Long toasted oak and cherry finish Decant and drink now or hold in cellar for three to five years.

Food pairings: tourtière, lamburger, pork pies.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A lovely Ontario take on the Bordeaux-style blend. Aromas of blackberry, currant, dried herbs, warm earth and smoke. Full bodied on the palate, with young, grippy tannins, and bright acidity. Fruit and berries are ripe and flavourful on the palate, with hints of smoke, spice, and minerality on the finish. Enjoy with seared duck breast seasoned with five spice.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Bordeaux style is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Malbec. It has a classic nose with restrained dried raspberries under a hint of violets. Nice structure and balance with fine, sandy tannins very much in play. Medium finish. You can drink this now but it will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar as well. Serve with saucy ribs. Tasted February 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A medium-bodied blend of Merlot, Carbernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, there are earthy and blackberry aromas and on the palate. Well-balanced, acidity is present with medium to high tannins and a medium, dry, and clear finish. Decant or age further. Pair with savoury meat dishes or spicier foods.
Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

I discovered this wine at the Taste Ontario event in Ottawa April 3, 2019. This is a cool red with a nice mix of petit verdot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. I would pair it with a pizza on a Friday night.
Niagara's Creekside Laura's 2016 is a full-bodied Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec from a warm vintage. Floral on the nose with dark fruit, dried herbs, ripe plum flavours and coffee notes on the palate. Great acidity for food, pair with tourtière and lamburgers. Drink or hold. - Community Wine Reviews
