Natalie's Score: 90/100

A rich, full-bodied southern French red with black fruit and smoke aromas. This wine is a blend of Malbec and Merlot grapes, from a family who has been growing vines since 1773 in this region. This red displays that history with lots of heft, concentration and depth. It finishes with some pepper and smoke. I'd drink it with brisket or prime rib. Produced by Domaines Roche, and located in the heart of the Cahors region of southern France. Pair with meaty ravioli or a thick minestrone soup.

Malbec food pairings: hamburgers, pizza, Irish stew, hodge podge, spaghetti and meat balls.

Reviews and Ratings

Brian Gray Hamilton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium purple in colour, this wine presents a nose of dark berries, cedar, and an intriguing rustic earthiness. The palette is dense, round and has layers of ripe fruit framed by substantial yet fine tannins leaving a persistent silky finish. Well balanced, this wine carries the 14.5% alcohol. Great value! Partner this wine with game meats in a fruit reduction.
Produced by Domaines Roche, récolt., the 2010 vintage of the Prestige Malbec Cahors is loaded with black fruit and toasty oak. Good cellar wine. - Community Wine Reviews
