A full-bodied, generous round South African Chardonnay with aromas of butterscotch and smoke. Well-priced and delicious. Pair with roasted chicken. The winery's cellar is cathedral vaulted with stained glass thus the name. The Cathedral Cellar Chardonnay offers remarkable value for this tasty, rich, buttery Chardonnay.

Chardonnay food pairings: cranberry braised partridge, pork filet au gratin with green herbs, grilled chicken breast with cranberry and red currant sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Beautiful South African Chard. Crowd pleasing, great value. Lemon zest, and vanilla on the nose. Pink grapefruit, savoury, raw almond on the palate. Full bodied, tangy and zesty. Pairs well with roast chicken dinner. Tasted 2015 vintage in May 2018. 90 points
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Big and delicious full-malo Chard that is perfect if you like oak and malolactic flavours. Tons of nutty and creamy notes from the barrels. High alcohol too.
Deep yellow colour, with whisps of mixed nuts, coconut, banana, and butter. Rich and easygoing. Try not to overchill it.
Flavours of lemon curd on the finish. Very rich and tasty. Good pricepoint too.
Pair it with lobster, with lots of butter and lemon.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

Prominent aromas showing uber flinty minerality nose and faint citrus blossom and orchard fruit notes. Flavours showcase apple, mild toasted oak, and a smooth buttery texture. A medium-full bodied, dry, high acid Chardonnay with a long toasted finish. Enjoy with gourmet grilled cheeses. Tasted July 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
From Cathedral Cellars, this Western Cape wine region 100% Chardonnay is fantastic value under $20. Rich butter and smoke nose with even richer flavours of Meyer lemons, vanilla, butterscotch and sweet spice on the palate. Pair with roast Cornish hens. - Community Wine Reviews
