Casa Santos Lima Colossal Reserva 2017 has colossal flavour with rich dark cherry, blueberry, blackberry, fine herbs and spice on the palate at not such a colossal price ($16). Powerful with rich tannins. Enjoy with a sausage cassoulet or game roasts.

Food pairings: grilled steak, roast leg of lamb, hard cheese, veal piccata.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a powerhouse wine, with a deceptively low price point. Aromas of blueberry and blackberry with hints of dried herbs, and oaky smoke. Full bodied, with mouthwatering acidity, and rich, ripe dark berry notes. Hints of warm spice on a lengthy finish. Definitely punches above its weight, value and flavour- wise. Enjoy with marinated grilled steak.
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

This wine is a blend mainly made of Syrah (also know as Shiraz) completed by Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet and Tinta Roriz (Also know as Tempranillo).

This wine is deep ruby color with a purple hue.
Notes of oak barrel, vanilla, blackberry, plum and flower.

This is an elegant, concentrated and very long lasting on the palate.

Pair it with red meat.
Serve it at 15-17 degrees.
Ready to drink but can be aged 3-5 years.
From the Lisboa wine region, Casa Santos Lima Colossal 2016 is a rich and concentrated Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet and Tinta Roriz red wine blend. Fragrant with ripe red berry fruit, pink florals and spicy on the nose. Rich with dark berry, plum, pepper spice and toasty oak spice flavours. The blended wine was aged eight months in French and American oak barrels. Enjoy it now. Pair with a veal scaloppini. - Community Wine Reviews
