The 2015 is the fortieth anniversary vintage of this wine. Hand-picked, wild fermented, aged in French oak barrels, 10% of which was new. Elegant, refined pinot noir from a master! Earthy with violets and some fleshy black cherry. Medium-bodied, almost full. Gorgeous. Pair with grilled seafood or roast turkey.

Pinot Noir food pairings: filet mignon, pork tenderloin, pizza, pasta, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A more classic PN here. Lots of velvety cherry elements on the palate but with a hint...only a hint... of earthiness I love to see in PN. I'd like to be patient with this wine to give those earthy elements time to grow and almost match the classically weighted cherry fruit. Drink now if you must or wait 2-3 years to enjoy it at this early best.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This 2015 pinot from the central coast, USA is surprisingly elegant. It is modern in style but not overly jammy. Beautiful cherry, smooth acidity, and lingering tannin.
Neil Phillips rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An excellent "entry" into the very fine Pinot Noirs of Calera.

More Burgundian in style than Californian, taut acidity and fruit balance. Not as complex as their single-vineyard offerings - but also far less costly. This is a well-made PN that keeps the fruit in check beautifully.

Tasted November 2018.
California Calera 2015 is a medium-plus bodied Pinot Noir from California's Central Coast. This is an elegant PN with fleshy black cherry, dried herbs and dried mushroom flavours on the palate. Try it with a nice roast duck. Drink now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
