Ca' Romé Romano Marengo Cerretta 2012 is a full-bodied, robust and grippy Barolo from the Piedmont wine region. Wow, there are tannins. Can certainly cellar for a few more years. Nice nose of cocoa, dried fruit, burnt orange peel and savoury spice. Excellent concentration of rich, dark fruit with notes of tobacco, liquorice, roses, violets and vanilla. This 1.7 hectare vineyard in Cerretta, one of Serralunga’s designated crus, was planted in 1961.

Barolo food pairings: prime rib, New York strip loin barbecued ribs in rich gravy.

Reviews and Ratings

Ca' Romé Romano Marengo is a robust Barolo with grippy tannins. Garnet with a ruby orange hue in the glass, this is actually a full-bodied, bold and powerful Nebbiolo with incredible tannins. The nose shows moderate notes of cocoa, dried fig, and burnt orange zest. Decant for a minimum of two hours if drinking now. Pair with a grilled Tomahawk steak. - Community Wine reviews
