Grippy tannins and lots of bitter black fruit and tar. This wine will come together with time in the cellar. Decant 2 hours and pair with a rare steak.

Barolo food pairings: prime rib, New York strip loin barbecued ribs in rich gravy.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Garnet with a ruby orange hue, don't let the faint colour fool you as this is the kind of Italian wines - bold and powerful with huge tannis that command decades of cellaring and a thick juicy steak to enjoy with it. Spice, dried fruit, cacao, and balsamic notes contribute to the complexity and intrigue found in this impressive wine. Tasted November 2016. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Bold, full-bodied, and insanely high tannins (ageable through 2025-2027). The nose shows moderate notes of cocoa, dried fig, and baking spice. Flavours are overpowered by the tannins but still show mild notes of black fruit and dark chocolate. If drinking now, decant for minimum two hours prior to serving. Tasted Nov 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
From Barolo’s premier wine grape growing Piedmont region, Romano Marengo Cerretta (2011) is a diamond with promise. Like most Barolos, this wine needs time to come together, mature and think about what it wants to be when it grows up. Cellar for 10 or more years. - Community Wine Reviews
