Balanced and delicious: not as heavy as I expected, which is good. The strong 2015 vintage Châteauneuf du Pape shows in the glass of this Domaine Barville. Full-bodied, layered and complex with black fruit and toasty oak.

Châteauneuf-Du-Pape food pairings: rich stews osso Bucco, roasted root vegetable casserole.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A medium bodied wine with aromas of blueberries, violet, cedar, and dried autumn leaves.

On the palate are flavours of juicy blackberries and dark berries with a touch of cinnamon and cocoa at the finish, and moderate tannins that are well integrated.

Tasted November 2017
Brotte Domaine Barville (2015) is a deep ruby red Châteauneuf-Du-Pape from the Rhône wine region. Wine grapes for the pape are sourced from the family's vineyard of Laurent Brotte of about 15 hectares. The medium-bodied red wine is a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre grapes. Look for intense red berry flavours with dried, dusty green herbs, dried flowers and sweet spice on the palate. Tannins are firm and the richness of fruit to zesty acidity is in perfect balance. Nice long red berry and sweet spice finish. - Community Wine Reviews
