Black fruit, barnyard and forest notes on the nose with plum, coffee, herbs and some black cherry on the palate. Nice acidity and soft tannins give the wine a beautiful finish.

Laying down for 10 years already
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Deep opaque red with violet tinged edges. Rich, powerful bouquet with aromas of baked fruit, cooked with herbs and spices. Cherry fruit preserve and cinnamon are the major components in a long-lasting and attractive finish.

Rouge opaque foncé avec des bordures marquées de violet. Bouquet riche et puissant avec des arômes de fruits cuits avec des herbes et épices. Les conserves de cerises et de cannelle sont les éléments principaux du fini long et attrayant.

Louise Wilson ISG Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review: This opulent wine offers a deep ruby purple robe, and aromas of fennel, cherries jubilee and experienced oak. Rich black cherry fruit is balanced by medium tannins and fresh acidity. Full bodied with a generous length. Decant now to enjoy the full bouquet, but has the concentration to last many years. Tasted Jan 2014.

Tasting Note
Deep purple ruby colour; rich, ripe, plummy cherry aromas and flavours with hints of chocolate, spice and earth; full- bodied with a firm, long finish.
Serving Suggestion
Roasted meats, game or strong cheeses

David Lawrason (92): Well this is a minor masterpiece! It is as lush and powerful (15%) as you could want from amarone, with pitch perfect plum/prune blackberry fruit, woodsy spice, a touch of meatiness and some oak vanillin. But there is no raisining and despite thickness, creaminess and density the acidity and tannin tie it up in a tight package. Nicely focused and firm with excellent length. Decant for a couple of hours, or better yet age it two or three years when more complexity will begin to join in. Excellent length. Tasted February 2014
Steve Thurlow (91): The 2009 is very open and fruity on nose and palate with ripe black fruits plus some hints of menthol, vanilla and woodsy notes. It is truly amazing how the 15% alcohol is totally balanced, giving an elegant palate with an impression of lightness with well defined soft fruit. Excellent length. Best 2014 to 2020. Try with duck ragout and pappardelle pasta or enjoy with dried figs and parmigiana cheese. Tasted July 2014.
