From the Clare Valley wine region, Wakefield Estate 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is amazing value under $20. Fragrant with black currant, mocha, mint, sweet spice, dried tobacco leaf, this wine is dry, full-bodied and smooth with soft tannins and bright acidity for food with a long, ripe blackberry, mint and spicy finish. So good. Pour with game roasts or gourmet burgers from the grill.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hearty meat dishes, hard cheese, juicy rare steak, barbecued ribs in sauce, hamburger.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromas of blackberry and cherry with notes of mocha, sweet spice and eucalyptus. Full bodied with smooth, soft tannins, bright acidity and jammy black fruit bursting on the palate, along with spicy and menthol notes mingling in the tannins, and a lengthy finish with some of that mocha hint. Enjoy with grilled beef or pork with a smoky marinade. Great value.
Wakefield Estate 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is dry, full-bodied and smooth with blackberry compote, stewed plum, dark cherry, mocha and dried wild herb flavours finishing long on the palate. Tannins are pleasantly grippy and there is great acidity for food. Pour with games roasts or bison burgers. Drink or hold. - Community Wine Reviews
